Woah, two posts in one day. Insane, I know but there is something else that God has revealed to me while I’ve been here in NC that I thought deserved its own post. I’m going on the World Race. So Adventures in Missions or AIM has three main types of trips. Usually, they are done all internationally but since COVID is a thing they are doing things domestically for the time being. They have gap year for 17-20-year-olds who want to do missions while taking a break from school between high school and college. There is semesters trip for 18-22-year-olds who want to do missions in the summer between school years or to take a semester off of college. That is what I’ve been doing with going to Wisconsin and with North Carolina. Finally, the trip that AIM is most well known for is the World Race which is for 21-35-year-olds and you go to 11 countries in 11 months. At least that is how it used to be for the next round of trips they are changing it up a little bit where only 5 countries are set and you go to some other neighboring countries based on where the most need is and if you can even get in the country. That is what God is calling me to do.
Even though I have a heart for missions I never saw myself doing the World Race. It sounded amazing traveling the world for a year sharing the Gospel and serving. The reason I never saw myself doing it was that it seemed like a long time to be gone for missions but not being a permanent job in doing missions. Especially, since I know the exact area and people I want to serve in missions full time. I want to serve in Europe or the Middle East serving refugees from the Syrian refugee crisis and other areas of the Middle East. So a place like Greece with the largest refugee camp or Lebanon where 1/10 people there are refugees from Syria. That was what I was originally working towards before I had applied to the World Race. I had applied for a year-long program with a mission organization called YWAM. Where I would spend roughly six months of my time in Greece where I was going to learn to have a deeper relationship with Christ and spend time working with the local refugees. Then spend the other half of the year in the Middle East serving the local communities there.
When I applied for the World Race I still wasn’t sure I wanted to do it since that program with YWAM sounded perfect for me. Once I got accepted however I was praying about it and God multiple times made it clear that he wanted me to do the World Race in just the smallest things that unless you were looking for Him in them you would never have seen it.
So assuming the whole world isn’t still shut down by August of next year when I leave I’ll be going on the World Race. I’ll be going on the route they call expedition which is focused mostly on the 10/40 Window. The 10/40 Window is the area of the world that has the least access to the Gospel so places like North Africa, the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia. Not everywhere I am going is going to be in the 10/40 window though. As I said earlier there are only 5 countries set with options to go to other surrounding countries. The first place I am going on this trip is Spain with the option to go to Portugal. Then I’m going to Romania with options to go to Serbia, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Albania, and Greece. I’m very excited about this because Romania and Serbia were originally where I was going on my Semester trip before COVID. Then to Kyrgyzstan with options to go to Kazakstan, Georgia (the country), and Azerbaijan. Then India with the option to go to Nepal. Then finally Thailand with options to go to practically all of Southeast Asia: Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Now I highly doubt we’re going to all of those countries probably 13 at most.
I know this is where God wants me to go because I just felt total peace when I decided ongoing. It is going to be a hard year while I’m there but almost nothing good happens when you are in your comfort zone. Thank you for spending the time to read this. Please pray for me as I fundraise for this trip. If you yourself can donate to help me get there that would be amazing. Thank you to all of you who already have supported me in the past.
